Digital innovation, Ketnet is always up for that. In 2017, it was the first Flemish channel to experiment with interactive fiction. This allowed children to decide for themselves what turn a story took.
The interactive episodes of The Rule of 3S and The Night Watch caught on, but editorially it still required a developer to program an interactive episode. Was there an easier way? How could editors do everything themselves without bringing in a developer?
Cartel Agency came up with an interface in which you can intuitively bring together videos, audio, subtitles and interactive elements. We developed the interface in Drupal, with some new functionalities on board.
With the new tool, the Ketnet editors can create new interactive episodes completely independently, without having to write a single letter of code.
Peetie Club: Fiks de Hit was the first game built with this new interface, and since its launch it has been in the top 5 of most played Ketnet games.
We recently gave the interface a new feature: with mini-games, you can now determine the course of interactive stories yourself. To this end, we conceived, designed and programmed a series of minigames tailored to The Night Watch. We also advised Ketnet on how best to use these mini-games.
